Product 1 - Magazine
The target audience for my magazine is age 16-25 class AB
demographic, therefore my magazine needs to appeal to this age group. I will
use a smart and classy theme, including suits and dresses. I think this will appeal to this
audience as students this age will have upcoming proms, balls and graduations - however proms are seasonal, so by including other types of classy outfits such as Party Dresses and accessories such as ties and shoes, my magazine will appeal to my audience all year round.
I intend to use a block colour background for my covers, this will focus the audience more on what the model is wearing, rather than where the model is situated. However, for my contents pages I will have some different backgrounds, such as the beach, to make the images varied. For one of my shots I will use a 3/4 shot – from the knees upwards – so the audience can see most of the models outfit, as it is a fashion magazine so the main focus is what they are wearing. I am aiming to represent teenagers and young adults as classy, because often young people are seen as being bad people who don’t look after themselves, however this magazine can show that they can still dress up and be classy in dresses and suits. My magazine will be produced by Bauer, and they produce a similar magazine called Grazia, but this is aimed at 25-45 year old women, so my magazine will be different by aiming it at a younger audience and gives Bauer more variety in the types of magazines they sell.

Product 2 - Website
For my website, my target audience and intentions are the
same as my magazine. As my target audience is age 16-25, the website will be
very important as media plays an important role in teenager’s lives, and often
they will be more likely to read the website than buy the magazine. Therefore,
my website will still have the same fonts and masthead at the top, as a clear
sense of branding, but it will include blog articles. Some of these blog
articles will link to products mentioned in my contents pages, and others will be
new to encourage the readers to visit the website again. Each of the blog
overviews on the home page will have an image to go with them to make them more
interesting and draw the reader in – some of these images might be models and
some may just be of products such as shoes and cufflinks. Similar to the
magazine, the website will represent young people as classy and interested in
higher-end fashion. This will be beneficial to Bauer who will launch my
magazine and website, as it gives them more variety because they don’t produce
a classy magazine for young people.
How do you intend to link your media products to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding of the digitally convergent nature of your media production?
I will link my website and magazine together, my masthead used on my covers will be used on my website too so people can recognise the brand instantly. My website link will be copied into my contents pages so the readers can also visit the website, and social media links too because young people use social media frequently. My full logo also features above the title on my website and on my front covers near the barcode - this makes the brand recognisable, and the smaller logo (just the silhouette not the letters) features on my contents pages to reinforce the brand.
Using a female on one cover and a male on the other will help appeal to a wider audience as it includes both genders, my contents pages and website will also reflect this and have both male and female models and include fashion for both genders, from shoes and bags to cufflinks and watches.
